I know I'm not alone in deciding to cut back on my spending in this economic climate. All over America and probably world-wide, thousands and millions of families have made the same decision--some out of necessity, and some out of choice.

However, I have already put much thought into how to cut back and into making such a plan work. In fact, several years ago I wrote a book that was based on cutting back. At the time, it was geared toward families who wanted to cut back so that one parent could stay home with the kids. For various reasons, the book was never published. Now I'm glad it wasn't.

The ideas I developed years ago don't just apply to the audience that I imagined. Anyone who has been laid off can use the system I developed to live within their means with the least possible disruption. Anyone trying to save up money so they can be ready for a layoff can also use my system.

Right now I am revamping the book to reflect current events, and it will be made available to the public in e-book form very soon. Meanwhile, I will be offering ideas and snippets of what is to come right here for anyone who wants to try them. I will also be sharing my family's current efforts to live within our means. Right now we have not lost any income. But we also lack the preparations that we should have to be ready for anything the economy will throw at us.

So I hope you will come along and get ready with me. Being prepared never hurt anyone !
